History: – Hyderabad and Secunderabad are one of the few twin cities in the world. Secunderabad is located on the northern side of the Hyderabad urban agglomeration. The cities have merged through an imaginary line drawn across the Tank Bund, which is still used to demarcate the cities. In 1798 through an alliance signed between Hyderabad’s Nizam Sikander Jah and the British East India Company, the area north of Hussain Sagar Lake was made into a cantonment named Secunderabad after Nizam Sikander Jah. Presently, the Secunderabad Cantonment area falls under the jurisdiction of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB), which is a local body falling under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
The SCB is responsible for carrying out the civic amenities to the residents of the Cantonment area. The area of Secunderabad Cantonment is about 40.17 sq. km and the civil population is 2,17,910 as per the 2011 census.

As demand grew for reforms by the cantonment civil population, the Cantonments Act, 1924 was enacted to introduce local self-government in the cantonments. The Act was the first model municipal Act for cantonments, but in its implementation, decentralization and democratic norms were largely compromised because of the status of the citizen who occupied the property only as a licensee of the Government.
The Cantonments Act, 1924 was repealed by the Cantonments Act, 2006 with a view to impart greater democratization and improve the financial base of cantonments to make provision for developmental activities. Presently there are 62 Cantonments in the country distributed among six Army Commands. The Cantonments are categorized as Category I, Category II, Category III, and Category IV on the basis of the population. Secunderabad Cantonment area falls under Category I.

Online applications were invited for direct recruitment to the vacant posts in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board through recruitment portal i.e. www.canttboardrecruit.org vide advertisement dated 15/07/2021 published on 31/07/2021 in employment news, Sakshi and Times of India. A notification is being issued for the posts of Assistant Cantonment Planner and Assistant Engineer (Civil) (Sr. No. 1& 2 of the advertisement dated 15.07.2021) which is as follows.
The interested candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria can apply online from 19/09/2021 to 09/10/2021. The Candidates who have already applied for the concerned posts are not required to apply again. - Educational: – Passed Degree in B.E/ B.Tech (Civil) or equivalent from a University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, State Act or Provincial Act, or Recognized by the University Grants Commission.
- Must possess a minimum qualification of a Degree in B.Arch. Or B.E/B.Tech(Civil) or B.Planning or B. Tech(Planning) from a University in India established or incorporated by or under a Central Act, State Act, or Provincial Act, recognized by the University Grants Commission.

The selection of candidates for appointment to the posts will be made by Multiple choice objective type computer-based examination. The questions for the examination will be set only in English. There will be no interview for any of the above-mentioned posts. The date, Time & Venue for the Online test will be intimated on the official website in due course of time. Candidates are required to visit the website/portal official website regularly to check time schedule for the written tests.

Exam Syllabus:
- General intelligence and reasoning will include both verbal and non-verbal reasoning.
- General awareness will include history, culture, geography, economic science, General polity, Indian Constitution, current affairs, etc.
- Numerical aptitude will test the knowledge of arithmetical concepts and their use in finding the solution to real-life problems.
- English Comprehension will test the candidate’s ability to understand correct English, his basic comprehension and writing ability, etc.

- Intermediate Vocational Standard includes Importance of Lettering and Numbering, Building materials & structures, Building construction, Construction of Ordinary Scale, Conventional signs and symbols as per IS Code for Engineering Drawings and Buildings Drawings, Surveying, Filed Book Entries, Plotting, Calculation of Areas, Surveying of Building Sites with Chain and Level for Calculation of Earth Work, Plotting of Longitudinal/Cross-section, Drawing of Contours, GIS for planning, water, waste and sanitation, Professional Communications, CAD, Disaster Risk Mitigation & Management, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Urban Engineering, etc.
