The school was established on 12 October 2003. Sainik School Gopalganj is situated at its temporary location at Hathwa Raj Guest House, Hathwa, Gopalganj Distt in Bihar.
The nearest Railway Station is Siwan Jn which is 20 Km away from the School. The nearest airport is at Patna at a distance of 195 km, Gorakhpur (UP) is 130 km from the school. The School is spread over an area of eleven acres. State Govt of Bihar has allocated 48.84 acres of land to School at Sipaya village of Kuchaikot block for the construction of its permanent building. The construction of the permanent school building is in progress and in due course of time the permanent school building will come up at this place.
