History: – The Assam Rifles (wiki) is the oldest paramilitary force of the Indian Army, dating back to 1835 under the British Raj, raised under the name Cachar Levy. The present name of “Assam Rifles” has been used since 1917. Over the course of its history, the Assam Rifles have served in a number of roles, conflicts, and theatres including World War I, where they served in Europe and the Middle East, and World War II, where they served mainly in Burma. After the Chinese annexation of Tibet, the Assam Rifles were tasked with manning the Tibetan border of the Assam Himalayan region. They were also instrumental in maintaining law and order in the tribal Arunachal Pradesh.
The force is paramilitary and under the jurisdiction of the Home Ministry of India. It has no connection with the Assam Regiment of the Indian Army. There are currently 46 battalions of Assam Rifles with a sanctioned strength of 63,747 personnel. They perform many roles including the provision of internal security under the control of the army through the conduct of counterinsurgency and border security operations, provision of aid to the civilians in times of emergency, and the provision of communications, medical assistance, and education in remote areas.
In times of war, they can also be used as a combat force to secure rear areas if needed. Since 2002 the force has been given the role of guarding the Indo–Myanmar barrier.

AGE: –
Candidates’ minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 23 years as of 1st August 2021. Candidates should not have been born earlier than 01 Aug 1998 and later than 01 Aug 2003.
Relaxation:
Age relaxation available to a different category of eligible candidates is as under: –
SC/ ST – 5 years
OBC – 3 years
Serving Assam Rifles Personnel (UR/ OBC) – Up to 40 years of age.
Serving Assam Rifles Personnel (SC/ ST) – Up to 45 years of age.
Ex-servicemen (UR – 3 years, OBC – 6 years & SC/ ST 8 years (3 + 5) years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the date of reckoning.

Assam Rifles Recruitment 2021 – Medical Standard Test (चिकित्सा मानक परीक्षण):-
The candidates who appear in Document Verification will be sent for a medical exam at Assam Rifles Army Bharti Ground. Candidates should not have knock-knee, flat foot, or squint-eyed, and they should not be color blind. Varicose vein shall be considered a temporary disqualification. They must be in good mental and bodily health.
- A candidate should have a robust physique and good mental health.
- The chest developed having a minimum of 5 Cms expansion.
- We should have normal hearing in each ear and good binocular vision in both eyes. He should be able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart with each eye. Colour vision should be CP – III (able to recognize white, red, and green signal colors correctly as shown by Martin’s Lantern at 1.5 meters).
- Should have a sufficient number of natural healthy gum and teeth i.e. minimum of 14 dental points.
- Should not have diseases like deformity of bones, hydrocele and varicocele or piles.
- Soldier General Duty for infantry should have 6/6 eyesight.

Assam Rifles Recruitment 2021 – Application Fee:-
The fee structure and other details are as follows:
- The fee structure for Group B posts application fee is Rs. 200/- (Two hundred only) and for Group C posts application fee is Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only).
- The fee will be deposited online by the candidates into SBI Current Account No. 37088046712 in favor of HQ DGAR, Recruitment Branch, Shillong – 10 at SBI Laitkor Branch IFSC Code – SBIN0013883.
- No fee is charged from candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, and Female and Ex-servicemen candidates. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor will it be adjusted against any other expenses.
